Hello, my name is Mary
(Mary Asha was the name I chose to go by in art school as a way to differentiate myself from the other Marys also in the undergraduate program. There were a few of us. The name stuck so it became my professional name after graduation.)
I’m a Connecticut-based illustrator best known for crafting designs that has an open, dreamy presence. I received my BFA in Illustration from the University of New Haven in 2019 and worked in the art field for over a decade. The most notable clients I had worked with include: Nest New York, Alex & Ani, Harper Collins, Lake & Skye, Frederik Fekkai, UNICEF, Lucasfilm, & Teen Vogue.
Since the beginning of my career, my work has always reflected sharp colors, striking textures, and intricate detail. I work primarily with mediums like pens, markers, & colored pencils to achieve my signature style. My creative approach is the end result of fusing Fine Art’s principles with the design aspects of Illustration.
To keep encouraging artistic growth, I actively experiment through various projects that stem from my life outside of the art studio. My ability to observe and restructure what I see into something visually striking has remained through every style evolution. My ultimate goal, as an Illustrator, is to be able to create both a memorable moment and charming story.
Meet my longest Project: The Galactic Cherub
If I didn’t become an illustrator then I would have been an astronomer. Space has been at center of my life since I was little and is the only field I cherish more than art. The Galactic Cherub was created as the embodiment of my love for the cosmos. In my free time, I’ll make space inspired work and pretend it’s a part of his little adventures. As of 2026, this occasional project is officially over two decades old.
